I'm also known as: Dr. Tom, Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cops) and Tommy (to some old & special friends). I have been married to my lovely wife Pat since 1981. Our "children" are 3 crazy dogs and 4 crazier cats (a mini-zoo). I grew up in Las Vegas when it was a much smaller and friendlier city than it is now. Attended Gorman High ('68), so I'm a semi-old fart, but I'm in decent shape. I'm a 4'th generation Nevadan (very rare) whose predecessors were major players in the state for about the past 100 years. We live in Tempe because it's a fine place and because I used to be a tenured full Professor at ASU. I chose to walk away from ASU because quality of life is more important to me than perceived status. "Changes in attitudes - changes in latitudes..." More detail on this is at Why Did I Walk... I have lived most of my life in Tempe and Las Vegas, and I spent a few good years in Morro Bay & San Luis Obispo CA, plus many summers in the San Francisco bay area working at Lawrence Livermore National Lab. "Life has been good to me, so far ... "

Golf is one of my top interests, and I have created a separate page for Tom's GOLF Activities. The same is true for Tom's TRAVEL Activities. In random order, here are many other things that I enjoy (but sometimes don't have enough time for): photography, working out, running, softball, card games, jokes, most music (prefer old & new rock, blues, jazz), current and classic movies, performances (concerts, plays,...), dark chocolate, museums(love Renoir, Monet, Munch, Picasso, Natural History), Zzyzx Road, castles - chateaux, beaches, deserts, rivers, mountains, hiking, downhill skiing, Trader Joe's, red wine et al., good food, web pages, research, teaching, ...
