The Associated Writing Programs Conference--Held at a different city each year, this event is especially geared to MFA students and teachers of creative writing.
Breadloaf Writers Conference in Middlebury, VT.--The country's oldest and most prestigious conference for writers.
Centrum's Port Townsend Writers' Conference in Port Townsend, WA--workshops (both critiqued and non-critiqued), lectures and readings for poetry, fiction, short fiction and non-fiction.
E-Poetry 2001 Festival--An International Digital Poetry Festival will be the first convocation of digital poets and artists to focus on the state of the art of digital poetry.
Hassayampa Institute for Creative Writing* in Prescott, AZ--held every summer up in the cool pine country and includes fiction and non-fiction as well as poetry workshops. *Note that you will have to scroll down this AZ Humanities website to find the Institute.
Montana Writers' Retreat for Women--a canoe trip and pilgrimage led by Deena Metzger which emphasizes writing, storytelling and spirituality.
Napa Valley Writers' Conference at Napa Valley College in St. Helena, CA--features workshops in poetry, fiction and non-fiction with well-known writers leading the sessions. Focus is on both creative process and revision. Also features lectures, panels and readings by faculty.
Poetry Alive Summer Festival in Asheville, N.C.--a conference especially good for teachers of creative writing.
Split Rock Arts Program sponsored by the University of Minnesota at two sites in northern Minnesota--week long residential workshops focusing on creativity enhancement.
Squaw Valley Community of Writers held at the ski resort in the Sierra Nevadas of northern California near Lake Tahoe--this conference has been held for 31 years. Workshops in poetry, fiction, screenwriting, and nature writing.
Tucson Poetry Festival in Tucson, AZ--a little-known gem of a week-end conference held each spring. Features readings, workshops, and panel discussion. Each year a different theme.

Organizations
African American Online Writers Guild--organization that provides many valuable resources to nurture African American writers (not just for poets!)
American Academy of Poets--a wealth of information on American poetry
The Associated Writing Programs--provides many resources for writers and is sponsored by over 320 member colleges and universities
Glendale Community College English Department Links for Writers--all kinds of resources for writers (not just for poets, but some good poetry sites here as well)
National Poetry Organization--San Francisco-based group that supports poetry in the Bay area
Netscape's Bookmark for Writers--sponsored by the Hollywood Writers Society, this site includes links to other writers organizations, research sources, submission sites, and critique groups
Nuestra Palabra: Latino Writers Having Their Say--an organization that supports and showcases Latino/a literary talent in the Houston, TX area. Sponsors readings, literary events, classes and seminars
Oingo's List of Writers Organizations in the United States--several links to writers groups
Phoenix College Creative Writing Program--sponsors classes, readings, literary events and more
Writers Exchange--an online community designed to share and enrich writers' lives
Writers Resource Center--a good site for all kinds of writer help and information
Writers' Village University--offers online writing classes (a few free; most available only with annual membership fee) and support for writers
